In brief: York County ceremony to remember Pearl Harbor
Veterans of the attack on Pearl Harbor and the Battle of the Bulge will be recognized next month at the York County Department of Veterans Affairs annual breakfast.
The ceremony will be held at the Wyndham Garden York, 2000 Loucks Road in West Manchester Township, at 7:30 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 7, which is National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day.
On that date in 1941, the Japanese launched a surprise attack on American bases in Hawaii, drawing the United States into the Second World War, which had been raging since 1939.
The public and veterans are invited to attend the breakfast and ceremony. Cost is $5 per person.
To RSVP, call the county Department of Veterans Affairs at (717) 771-9218, or go to ycva.org for a registration form.
The last day to register is Monday, Nov. 30.
