Police: Gas station employee helps save abducted doctor
PHILADELPHIA — Investigators say a gas station employee helped save a doctor who they say was abducted from a Philadelphia parking garage.
Police say the 28-year-old woman was on the phone with her husband early Wednesday when the 40-year-old man approached her, flashed what appeared to be a weapon and forced her into her car.
They drove to a gas station, where police say he tried to use her debit card at the ATM and buy cigarettes.
The 25-year-old attendant behind the counter tells reporters he knew something was off and told the woman to stay in the store. He says he confronted the suspect, who sped off in the stolen car.
Police say they caught up with the man by tracking the victim's cellphone. Authorities didn't immediately identify him.
