Police: York City man shot wife in face
A York City man is charged with attempted criminal homicide after he allegedly shot his wife in the face following an argument Sunday morning.
Charlie Gonzalez Sr., of 518 Atlantic Ave., remains in York County Prison on $500,000 bail on that charge and a count of aggravated assault, which, like the attempted homicide charge, is a felony, according to online court records.
York City police officers were called around 6 a.m. Sunday to Gonzalez's address for reports of a shooting, according to charging documents. A neighbor told 911 dispatchers the people involved were leaving the area in a gold minivan, documents state.
Gonzalez's son, Charlie Gonzalez Jr., told officers arriving at the Atlantic Avenue address that his father had shot his mother, according to documents.
Other officers found the minivan and pulled it over at the intersection of West King and South Penn streets, according to documents. Police say Charlie Gonzalez Sr. was driving the car, with his wife, Silvia Gonzalez, in the passenger seat.
Silvia was bleeding from a gunshot wound to the right side of her face, documents state.
She told emergency medical responders her husband had been arguing with her, and that she told him she just wanted to go to bed, according to documents.
Charlie Gonzalez Sr. then took out his revolver and shot her in the face, police allege.
There was no information available about Silvia Gonzalez's condition at York or Memorial hospitals.
A preliminary hearing for the alleged shooter has been scheduled for 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 18, at the Roosevelt Avenue magisterial district judge office in York City, according to online court records.
Domestic violence: This is the eighth instance in York County in 2015 in which authorities allege someone in York County criminally committed homicide or attempted homicide in a domestic-violence-related incident. That includes two double-murder-suicides, two murder-suicides, an attempted murder-suicide, two homicides and this attempted homicide, according to authorities.
