Salvation Army to distribute winter coats to those in need

THE YORK DISPATCH

From 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, the Salvation Army will distribute winter coats for the whole family at its all-purpose room in its building, 114 S. Duke St. Coats for men, women and children are ready for families preparing for a cold winter.

Most of the coats were collected as part of last year's WGAL TV 8 Coats for Kids campaign and cleaned by members of the Pennsylvania Dry Cleaners Association, according to a news release.

This year's collection campaign will begin Saturday and run through Dec. 12.

Those interested in donating can take still-good coats to participating dry cleaners; participating cleaners in the York area include Devono's Cleaners, Hanna Cleaners, Trust and ZIPS Dry Cleaners.

These cleaners will accept up to three coats from each family to be cleaned for The Salvation Army.

Coats received and not needed this winter will be stored for next year's late fall distribution.
