First of three suspects captured, wanted in Glen Rock cop-dragging

The man police say grabbed the arm of Southern Regional Police Officer Mike Storeman and held on as the driver of the car he was sitting in sped down the street, dragging Storeman along, was apprehended Sunday morning, according to a news release from Southern Regional Police Department.

David Robert Achstetter, 36, was arrested in Gaithersburg, Md., according to the release.

Achstetter was not driving the car police are looking for in connection with the incident, Southern Regional Sgt. Darryl Smuck said. The car, a black 2011 Toyota Camry with Maryland plates, license number 4AG-6940, hasn't yet been seized, Smuck said.

"We don't want to put out a lot more information (about the circumstances of the arrest) because we don't want it to affect our apprehending the second guy," Smuck said.

The other two people involved in the incident are still at large.

There is a warrant out for the arrest of the car's driver, 38-year-old Roberto Fabian Tabares, and a 38-year-old woman named Jenny Kim, who was sitting in the car's backseat, is wanted by police for questioning, the release states.

The release states that both men face charges of aggravated assault, hindering apprehension or prosecution, unlawful restraint, simple assault, recklessly endangering another person, and criminal mischief.

The search: Police have been searching for the trio since the assault occurred on Wednesday night, when they fled the scene.

At about 4:50 p.m. on Wednesday, Storeman was dispatched to a call about a suspicious vehicle, a dark Toyota sitting in the parking lot of CS Convenience Store, 50 Main St., Southern Regional Police Chief James Boddington said Wednesday night.

When the officer arrived, the store's staff said the vehicle had left the premises, Boddington said.

Storeman walked down Water Street and saw a vehicle fitting the same description parked near a laundromat down the street.

As he approached the car, he noticed a woman slumped over in the backseat, Boddington said.

He approached the passenger's side, and a man sitting in the passenger's seat grabbed his arm, Boddington said; then the driver sped off toward Hanover Street.

Storeman was dragged with the car until the man in the passenger's seat released him near the intersection of Water and Hanover streets, the chief said.
