3 teens charged as adults in connection with West York armed robbery
Three York City teens are charged as adults in connection with an armed robbery Thursday in West York.
Borough police continue to search for a fourth boy they say was also part of the robbery of a woman just before 7 p.m., according to a news release from the department.
Police were dispatched to the area of West Poplar and Hoke streets about 6:51 p.m. after a woman reported four teens approached her from behind, pointed a handgun at her head, demanded her keys and stole her purse, the release stated.
The quartet fled but officers were quick on their heels, arriving two minutes after being dispatched.
Arrested: With assistance from West Manchester Township and York City police, officers searched the area and found three of the four suspects. After a short foot chase, the three teens were arrested in the area of West College and Overbrook avenues.
Police arrested Tamar Dashawn Goff, 16; Elias Gomez, who turned 16 in March; and Jonathan Lee Romero, 17. Officers found a loaded gun, about 40 bullets and a bottle of Oxycontin on the teens, police said.
The trio faces robbery-related charges. They were charged as adults because of the violent nature of the crime, police said.
Goff remained in York County Prison on $25,000 bail as of Friday morning. Gomez is free on $50,000 bail and Romero is out on $30,000 bail, according to Magisterial District Judge Walter Groom's office.
The victim was not injured during the incident.
Anyone with information about the incident, or the identity of the fourth suspect, is asked to call West York Police at (717) 854-1975, or leave an anonymous tip at (717) 475-TIPS (8477).
