York JCC names next CEO


The York Jewish Community Center has named a new chief executive officer.

Scott Katz, a 20-year veteran of JCCs along the East Coast, will take over as CEO of the JCC at 2000 Hollywood Drive in Spring Garden Township in at the start of 2016, according to a news release from the organization.

Katz most recently served as the executive director at the JCC in Virginia Beach, Virginia, according to the release. His career has also included stops as director of recreational services at a Delaware JCC, assistant executive director at a JCC in Charleston, S.C., and chief operating officer at a JCC in Richmond, Virginia.

Before that, he graduated from the University of Maryland with a master's of social work, the release states.

Current CEO Randy Freedman, who announced her retirement in September 2014, will finish out the end of 2015 before handing over the reins to Katz.
