Police: Spring Grove teen charged in burglaries

York Dispatch

A Spring Grove teen was charged Saturday in three burglaries and one attempted burglary, according to Southwestern Regional Police

Jake T. Hengst, 19, is charged with three counts of burglary, three counts of receiving stolen property and one count of criminal trespass, police said.

On Saturday morning, police were called to a home on North High Street in Spring Grove when the resident saw Hengst walking around his home, police said.

It was determined that Hengst was attempting to enter the home but was scared away, according to police.

Witnesses provided police with a description of Hengst's vehicle, and police saw him in his vehicle a mile from the call, police said.

Investigation showed that Hengst allegedly committed two burglaries in Spring Grove that week, on West Hoke Street and on North Main Street, and another on Federal Drive in North Codorus Township, police said. Hengst took personal items, some of which have been recovered, police said.

Police said Hengst's method of entry was prying open a window, according to a release.
