The two York Chick-fil-A restaurants are offering the public a chance to help Operation Christmas Child, a project that sends millions of gift-filled shoeboxes to needy children overseas.

The eateries at 922 Loucks Road and 2801 E. Market St. will give a coupon for a free sandwich to anyone who drops off a shoebox filled with small items such as school supplies, toys and hygiene items on Nov. 10.

The empty boxes can be picked up from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. and 5-7 p.m. Tuesday.

After Nov. 10, shoebox gifts can be dropped off from Nov. 16-23 at one of the official sites. For a list of area drop-off centers, visit www.samaritanspurse.org/operation-christmas-child/drop-off-locations/.

Operation Christmas Child is a project of Samaritan's Purse, an international Christian relief and evangelism organization. For more information, call (410) 772-7360.
