Police: Glen Rock man, drunk, drove into garage

A Glen Rock man drove into a residence and damaged vehicles and property while under the influence of alcohol Sunday morning, according to police.

Joseph Conte, 28, of 4172 Manchester St., is charged with one count each of driving under the influence of alcohol or controlled substance, open lewdness, accidents involving damage to attended vehicle or property, driving without a valid driver's license and other traffic violations, according to charging documents.

At around 4:30 a.m., police were dispatched to a vehicle crash into a building at 4418 Shaffers Church Road, where police saw tire marks in the grass leading to the garage, the outside wall of the garage and the garage door pushed in, and three damaged vehicles, according to police.

The resident said he awoke to find a blue Chevy Tahoe crashed into his garage, and Conte was walking about and admitted to the crash, according to police.

The resident said Conte urinated on a tree in front of the resident and his wife and then proceeded to get in the Tahoe and drive away, according to charging documents.

Police followed a fluid trail leading to Conte's residence and found a Chevy Tahoe in the driveway with heavy front-end damage, police said.

Police viewed Conte with signs of intoxication after he consented to a field sobriety test, according to police.

Conte admitted to drinking "a few beers" prior to the crash, according to charging documents.

PennDOT records showed Conte's driver's license was expired, police said.

Conte is in York County Prison after being unable to post $75,000 bail, according to police.
