York County churches offer Halloween alternatives

York First Church of the Brethren, 2710 Kingston Road, will host trunk-or-treat, 5:30-7 p.m. Tuesday. The event (held indoors if raining) will feature decorated car trunks, refreshments, hay rides and surprises. Information: 755-0307.

Spry United Methodist Church (formerly Otterbein UMC), 50 School St., will host its annual trunk-or-treat, 7-9 p.m. Friday. Families are welcome to decorate their car trunks and hand out candy. The event will feature hayrides, s'mores, hot chocolate, cider and prizes. Information: 741-1429.

Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church, 105 S. Main St., Shrewsbury, will be the site of a three-church trunk-or-treat event, 2-4 p.m. Saturday. Children are welcome to wear costumes for the rain-or-shine event, which will include a parade at 3 p.m. St. John's and St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran churches, Shrewsbury, will also participate.
