Downtown Inc moves offices to Golden Swan
Downtown Inc has moved its offices to the Golden Swan, the two-story, Federal-style building at 2 E. Market St. on Continental Square.
The Golden Swan was formerly known as the Weiser Building. It dates back to the early 1800s, or perhaps earlier, according to a news release, and housed Newswanger's shoe store. It was used most recently by Wells Fargo, which has a branch next door.
"The building is in the heart of York's central business district, where Downtown Inc focuses its mission," Sonia Huntzinger, executive director of Downtown Inc, said in a news release. "It has space available on the first floor, which makes it conducive to walk-in traffic, and was already configured for offices. Downtown Inc doesn't want to take up space that could otherwise be used for retail."
