Police: Fatal Springetts crash victim fled from officers
A Springettsbury Township man has died from injuries suffered when he crashed his vehicle into a tree shortly after evading pursuing police officers, officials said.
Seth W. Webb, 35, of Camelot Arms Apartments, died Thursday at York Hospital of multiple injuries, according to the York County Coroner's Office, which has ruled his death an accident.
Webb was alone in a vehicle when it crashed into a tree about 1:50 a.m. Oct. 14 near the corner of Mount Herman Avenue and Sherman Street in Springettsbury Township, according to the coroner's office.
He was transported to York Hospital, where he died on Thursday, the coroner's office said. No autopsy is planned.
Police chase: Springettsbury Township Police asked state police to take over the crash investigation because township officers had been pursuing Webb not long before the crash, according to state police Sgt. Steven Wise.
Springettsbury officers had been chasing Webb but lost sight of him, the sergeant said.
As officers were patrolling the area looking for Webb's vehicle, they were notified of the crash, Wise said.
The investigation continues, he said.
Anyone who witnessed the crash can call state police at (717) 428-1011.
Webb graduated from Valley Forge Military Academy in 1999, according to his obituary, and also was a computer-sciences graduate of York Technical Institute.
