A possibly suicidal Shrewsbury resident refused to leave his residence shortly before noon Monday when authorities showed up to take the person to the hospital, police allege.

Officers were dispatched to the 100 block of South Main Street for reports of a suicidal person who might have access to weapons, Southern Regional Police said in a news release.

A nearby school and daycare were asked to secure the students away from the scene, police said.

The York County Quick Response Team was asked to assist with the incident at that time, according to police.

Around 1:40 the person left the house and was transported to the hospital for treatment, police said.
