Felony charges filed against target of police manhunt in Lower Windsor Twp.

A York Haven man whose flight from police prompted a multi-department manhunt Friday afternoon that involved a police helicopter and K-9 unit was charged Tuesday with multiple felonies stemming from the incident.

Destry Allen Arnold, 22, of 68B S. Landvale St., was arrested Friday and is charged with one felony count each of flight to avoid apprehension by police, breaking and entering and burglary, as well as misdemeanor counts of resisting arrest and possession of marijuana, and related summary offenses, according to the criminal complaint filed against him on Monday.

Police sought Arnold for warrants relating to firearm and drug charges filed against him earlier this year, according to court and prison records.

Shortly after noon Friday, authorities received a tip he was heading to 100 Oak Leaf Drive in Lower Windsor Township, according to charging documents. A local constable had already spoken to him and told him to turn himself in, but Arnold refused, documents state.

"Arnold was to be possibly suicidal, armed and dangerous," according to documents.

Search: Several Lower Windsor Township Police officers headed to Oak Leaf Drive to grab Arnold, and soon saw him driving up. One officer grabbed him and tried to take him to the ground so they could arrest him, but he pulled away, documents state. Another officer fired his Tazer at Arnold, but missed, according to documents. Arnold dashed away, vanishing into the woods, police allege.

Lower Windsor Police called in help from nearby departments in including a police dog and its handlers and a state police helicopter to help in the search. After a while, Lower Windsor Police Chief Tim Caldwell saw Arnold running from Spring Hollow Road toward Craley Road, but he again disappeared into the woods, police say.

Authorities pinged Arnold's cell phone and found it was in the area of 1963 Craley Road. When they got there, the K-9 unit tracked Arnold down; he'd broken into an occupied home and hunkered down there, police allege.

Police say they found a small amount of marijuana on him, and that he'd been driving with a suspended license and that his car is improperly registered.

Arnold remains in York County Prison in lieu of $100,000 bail, according to online court records.
