A North York man will recover after being shot in the hand, police said.

Keane Manuel Colon, 19, told police he was shot in the hand about 3 a.m. Friday at the corner of South Queen and East Princess streets, according to Lt. Troy Bankert, who supervises the city detective bureau.

Colon told officers a struggle ensued after he was approached by a gunman who tried to rob him and that he was shot while the man was trying to rob him, Bankert said.

No physical evidence was found at the corner to confirm Colon's account, the lieutenant said.

Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to call city detectives at (717) 849-2219, or call the city's anonymous crime tip line, (717) 849-2204. Or call 911.
