A Thomasville-area man fought with officers while resisting arrest Friday night, according to police.

Nicholas Roche, 26, of 61 Mobile Drive, was charged Friday night with two counts of aggravated assault, which is a felony, and then one count each of resisting arrest, disorderly conduct and public drunkenness, according to the charging documents.

Officers responded to a possible domestic disturbance at Roche's residence when they found that he had a warrant out for his arrest, according to police.

His girlfriend, Charlene Shank, told police the couple started arguing after he attempted to calm her following an argument with her sister, according to doucments.

When officers met with Roche, they could tell he was intoxicated, police allege.

While officers attempted to Roche, he pulled away "defiantly" and began punching, kicking and shoving the officers, ignoring commands to stop resisting, documents state.

Roche told the officers he was done fighting and stopped for a moments, but then rolled over, attempted to stand up and shove an officer, police allege. Police then pepper sprayed him, documents state.

Roche continued to pull and fight before being placed into the officer's vehicle, police allege.

Roche remains in York County Prison in lieu of $10,000 bail, according to authorities.
