The York County Department of Parks and Recreation will recognize National Earth Science Week with a variety of programs in October.

Sunday: History and Geology of the Gettysburg National Military Park, 8 a.m.-4 p.m. School bus departs from John Rudy County Park administrative headquarters. The cost is $30. To register, call 840-7440.

Monday: Kid's Geology Hike (one mile, with a hill), 9-11 a.m. at Raab County Park. Free admission.

Tuesday: Kids Geology Scavenger Hunt and Dinosaur program for ages 6 and older, 1-3 p.m. at Rocky Ridge County Park, pheasant pavilion. Free admission.

Wednesday: Geology of Glen Rock, 3-4:30 p.m., Heritage Rail Trail County Park from the Glen Rock Rail Trail parking area. Free admission.

Thursday: Geology along the Northern Extension Bike Ride (8.2 miles), 1-3:30 p.m., Heritage Rail Trail County Park, Loucks Mill Road parking area. Free admission.

Saturday, Oct. 17: Dinosaur and Fossil Day, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. at Nixon County Park. Activities for all ages. Free admission.
