First of three wrestling events in York County kicks off this weekend
The Crusade & Columbus Day Duals wrestling competitions scheduled for this weekend is the first of three new youth sporting events booked to run through the beginning of April in York County.
The competition, which includes age groups for wrestlers ranging from elementary to high school, will begin Saturday and continue through Sunday, with 800 people expected on Sunday.
The related Tyrant Duals event features wrestlers from elementary school through eighth grade, and will come to York for the first time in January.
It is expected to bring in more than 1,000 visitors. Both wrestling competitions will be held in the York Expo Center's Utz Arena.
Additionally, the Keystone Regional Volleyball Association's Girls 12U-17U Bid Tournament will take place in early April 2016, also at the Utz Arena.
There are now eight significant sporting events booked for the county in the next six months, according to the York County Convention Center and Visitor's Bureau. The events are anticipated to generate approximately $8 million in economic benefits for York County.
