York County Veterans Day program
The York County veterans affairs office will once again host its annual November event honoring those who served in the military.
The public program will be held at the Utz Arena inside the York Expo Center on Veterans Day, Wednesday, Nov. 11, according to a news release from the county Department of Veterans Affairs.
The event kicks off at 7:30 a.m. with breakfast that runs until 9:15 a.m. After breakfast, a ceremony honoring veterans will be held.
"We welcome the community to join us in recognizing the commitment and sacrifice of our country's veterans," said Philip Palandro, director of the department, in the release. "The day is particularly poignant here in York County, home to about 40,000 veterans."
The buffet-style breakfast costs $5, but it's free to attend the ceremony.
The deadline to register is Friday, Oct. 23. Walk-ins the day of the program will be first-come, first-served, based on the number of available seats.
To register, print a form from ycva.org and mail it, with a check, to the Department of Veterans Affairs, 100 W. Market St., York, Pa. 17401. Checks should be made payable to York County Veterans Affairs.
People can also register at the Veterans Affairs office.
