New Freedom Heritage making plans for next phase of park project
New Freedom Heritage is making plans for Phase 4 of the Freedom Green Community Park project.
The plans include a second engraved brick patio near the Heritage Museum, funded by a recent $10,000 grant from the York Community Foundation; disability access to the museum; installation of a bench, macadam parking area and trees; and a butterfly garden.
And help is needed from the public. Trees are needed, and those who donate $200 or more will receive a free plaque at their tree.
The public is invited to two informative talks by Penn State Master Gardeners beginning at 9 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 10, at the Freedom Green Community Park, Main Street and Railroad Avenue, New Freedom.
Robin Reid will talk about the butterfly garden, and Michael Schmotzer will present a demonstration on how to plant a tree. Refreshments will be served.
Also, the engraved brick fundraiser will end Saturday. Orders must be submitted by that date.
