Former York man arrested in New Jersey on rape charges

A former York City man accused of raping a mentally disabled person was arrested by the U.S. Marshals Service in New Jersey on Thursday.

Santos Diaz, 49, faces charges of rape of a mentally disabled person, sexual assault and related charges stemming from an incident that happened in York City in April, according to court documents.

York City Police in early September obtained an arrest warrant for Diaz and later turned to the marshals for help tracking him down, according to a news release from the U.S. Marshals Service.

Authorities found him in Neptune, New Jersey, and arrested him without incident.

Diaz is awaiting extradition to York County, the release says.
