Boyfriend in coma after saving woman from hit-and-run driver in Pa.
BETHLEHEM, Pa. — An eastern Pennsylvania man remains in a coma after pushing his girlfriend from the path of a driver jailed in what police are calling a drunken hit-and-run accident.
Samantha Anthony says she and Jeremy Magditch were leaving a Bethlehem pizzeria about 2 a.m. Friday when both saw a pickup coming down the street toward them.
Anthony says her boyfriend "jolted" her out of the way, but was hit by the truck which police say was driven by 30-year-old Kendell Ritz.
Ritz, who police later identified as the driver, has been jailed on charges including drunken driving and felony hit-and-run and faces a preliminary hearing Oct. 9. His attorney didn't immediately return a call Thursday.
Police say Magditch remains in critical condition in a medically induced coma while doctors hope swelling on his brain subsides.
