UPDATE:

The Pennsylvania Turnpike has been reopened between the Carlisle interchange (Exit 226) and the Breezewood interchange (Exit 161), according to Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission spokeswoman Susan Jones.

The 65-mile stretch had been closed because of a truck crash in the westbound lanes at mile marker 221.3, Jones wrote in a news release.

Drivers can get turnpike traffic alerts by calling (866) 976-TRIP (8747) or by visiting the live travel conditions map online at www.paturnpike.com/webmap.

The turnpike's smartphone app, TRIP Talk, streams audio advisories to iPhone and Droid users. To download the free app, visit www.paturnpike.com/triptalk.

REPORTED EARLIER:

CARLISLE — Pennsylvania Turnpike officials say a 65-mile section of the toll road's westbound lanes have been closed by a Thursday-morning crash involving a truck.

The westbound lanes are closed between the Carlisle and Breezewood interchanges.

Officials say the truck is blocking the westbound lanes and one eastbound lane.

Three people have been injured and taken to hospitals.

Turnpike officials are urging westbound drivers to exit at Carlisle and take Route 11 north to Interstate 81 into Maryland. Drivers can then travel on Interstate 70 west to state Route 30 and get back on the turnpike in Breezewood.

The crash was reported before 6:30 a.m. Thursday.
