Woman dies following crash on Route 30 in Adams County

A Gettysburg woman died at York Hospital following a crash involving a school bus in Adams County on Monday.

Kendall S. Boatrite, 29, of the first block on Red Bridge Road, was driving a 2000 Toyota Camry eastbound on Route 30, known locally as York Road, in Hamilton Township when, about 8 a.m., it hit the back of the stopped school bus, according to state police at Gettysburg.

The force of the impact wedged the car under the back of the bus, causing Boatrite to be trapped.

Fire crews were able to remove her from the wreckage and transported her via air ambulance to York Hospital where she died shortly after arriving, police said.

Boatrite died of multiple blunt force trama, according to the York County Coroner's office.

School bus driver Mary J. Beller, 50, and the single student on the bus were not injured in the crash, police said.

The bus was stopped in order to pick up more students and its flashing red lights were on at the time of the crash, police said.

The collision caused Route 30 in the area to be closed for two hours, causing major traffic delays, police said.
