Lead singer of Fun coming to Penn State York

Lead singer of the bands Fun and The Format Nate Ruess will take to the stage at Penn State York in the Campus Consciousness Tour.

The tour pairs popular music with an effort to promote environmental awareness and educate on clean energy.

Ruess' concert, organized through an environmental nonprofit called Reverb, will be held 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Pullo Family Performing Arts Center, 1031 Edgecomb Ave. in Spring Garden Township.

"It just very cool a combination of this fun music tour with environmental activism," said Paige Roth, spokeswoman for Reverb.

The concert will be preceded by the Campus Consciousness Tour Village, which will feature tents, tables and booths with educational information and other activities, including a prize wheel and ice cream samplings.

"We design it to be like a festival setting," Roth said. "We want it to be fun, and I think students can be one of the most receptive audiences ... They're in school and they want to learn and they're concerned about the future of the planet and the environment."

Ruess recently released a debut solo LP, "Grand Romantic," which hit No. 1 on the iTunes Albums Chart. It features the singles "Nothing Without Love" and "Great Big Storm."

Ticket prices are $30 (plus service fees), and Penn State York students can purchase one ticket at the special price of $17. Tickets are available at The Pullo Center Box Office, by phone at (717) 505-8900, or online at http://pullocenter.york.psu.edu.
