Woman injured in Spring Garden Twp. strong-arm robbery

Robbery at Dollar General

A 67-year-old woman was injured during a daylight strong-arm robbery in the parking lot of Dollar General, 1077 S. Edgar St., in Spring Garden Township on Saturday.

The woman, whose name was not released, was getting an item from her car when a man grabbed her purse, which was on her shoulder, according to township police.

She was dragged to the pavement during the altercation and suffered a head injury, police said.

The woman was taken to a hospital for treatment.

The suspect is described as a male who was wearing khaki pants and an orange or red hooded sweatshirt.

He was last seen heading toward Memorial Park in York City, police said.

Construction on I-83

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation will continue work on northbound Interstate 83 between the Exit 19 (Market Street) off ramp and the northbound on ramp from North Hills Road, according to a department press release.

Crews resumed work Tuesday.

Wednesday and Thursday, crews will move repair operations to the southbound lanes of I-83 between Exit 32 (Newberrytown) and Exit 28 (Strinestown), while also working between Exit 16 (Queen Street) and Exit 14 (Leader Heights).

Traffic within the vicinity of the repair work will be restricted to the right lane between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.

Travelers should allow for additional time or seek an alternate route during these hours.
