Texting Philly ambulance driver to be disciplined

THE ASSOCIATED PRESS

PHILADELPHIA — Philadelphia Fire Commissioner Derrick Sawyer says an ambulance driver caught texting while driving will be disciplined.

WPVI-TV reported the unidentified driver can be seen texting on cellphone video taken by Ebony Clarke. The woman tells the TV station she recorded the video while the driver was taking her son to a hospital for a cut on his head.

The driver never put down his phone, Clarke said.

Sawyer said he's "disgusted" by the video, which was posted on the TV station's website.

Drivers aren't allowed to use their cellphones for any reason, he said.

"We are going to identify the person in the video and we are going to bring him in. We'll discipline him," Sawyer said

The commissioner would not say how the driver will be disciplined.
