Carroll Township Police have closed the investigation into a murder-suicide that happened two months ago at a Dillsburg bar.

Police have determined that Arthur Drew Guise, 31, acted alone when he fatally shot Sharon Williams, his former girlfriend, before killing himself in front of the crowded Flapjack's Restaurant and Pub on July 2, according to Sgt. David Smith.

He said police weren't able to determine exactly why Guise did it.

"We still don't know what the triggering event was," Smith said.

About 8:50 p.m. that day, Guise, of Ore Bank Road in Carroll Township, shot Williams several times in the back as she sat in the outdoor seating area of Flapjack's on Route 15, according to police. He then committed suicide by shooting himself in the head in front of the 50 or so people looking on from the bar.

Williams, 33, of Mount Holly Springs in Adams County, was a single parent who reveled in being the mother of 3-year-old daughter Lea, her family has said.

Guise, an Army veteran, suffered from post-traumatic stress disorder, according to his father.
