York College's annual Humanities Lecture Series will open with a panel discussion on the concept and practice of the public arts and humanities.

The discussion will begin at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 9, in Room 218 of the campus Humanities Center.

Panelists will discuss the importance of promoting the "public good" and removing the institutional and ideological "walls" separating the arts and humanities from the civic space.

The panelists include Ken Osowski and Victor Taylor from the York faculty and Lynn Tomlinson of Towson University. Admission is free.
