American Heart Association plans walks in York and Hanover

The American Heart Association is accepting registrations for its annual York County Heart and Stroke Walks, 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 19, at John Rudy County Park, and 1 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 20, at Hanover Hospital.

The family friendly event is designed to promote physical activity for heart health and raise funds to support the association. The walks include a non-competitive, one-mile loop at Rudy Park and one- and three-mile routes through Hanover. There will also be vendors, health information, blood pressure screenings, CPR demonstrations, team photos, entertainment, healthy snacks and activities for kids.

The fundraising goal is $125,000. Walkers who raise a minimum of $100 will receive a T-shirt and the opportunity to receive additional prizes based on fundraising levels.

Registration at the event begins at 9 a.m. in York and at 11:30 a.m. in Hanover.
