Police: Former York County man raped mentally disabled child for years
A former Springfield Township man has been arrested in Wisconsin, accused of raping a mentally disabled child in York County over an eight-year period.
Ricky Francis Baumann, 61, now of Franksville, Wis., was arrested Friday morning without incident by members of the U.S. Marshals Service, according to a news release from the marshals service.
He was committed to Milwaukee County Jail to await extradition, the release states.
On Aug. 3, state police at the Loganville barracks filed a number of charges against Baumann, including rape of a child, rape of a mentally disabled person, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a mentally disabled person, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a child less than 13 and child endangerment, according to online court records.
State police allege Baumann raped and molested a mentally disabled child from 2005 until 2013.
His connection to the girl wasn't professional, according to police, meaning he wasn't her teacher, social worker or health-care worker.
Troopers began investigating in 2014, police said.
