Police release photo of Wells Fargo armed bank robber

The Southern Regional Police Department is searching for the person involved in an armed bank robbery that occurred August 20 around 10:40 p.m. at the Wells Fargo Bank in Stewartstown, according to its press release.

The suspect is described as a light-skinned black man, approximately 5-foot-7 to 5-foot-9 and 170 pounds. He was wearing a heavy skin-tone nylon sock or balaclava over his head, a black and blue or green ball cap, dark blue jeans and a white long-sleeve shirt at the time of the robbery, police said. He was carrying a black semi-automatic handgun.

About 25 minutes before the robbery, officials said a man in a vehicle appeared to be scoping out the People's Bank in Stewartstown. Police said this man is believed to be the same person involved in the Wells Fargo robbery.

The suspect was the front-seat passenger of the silver Chevrolet Impala, which has a Maryland War of 1812 "Flag" tag, a large dent to the driver's side rear fender and a sticker or dealership decal on the left trunk area.

Anyone with information on the suspect or vehicle are asked to contact Detective William Shafer at (717) 235-3944.
