Police: Felton-area woman found dead in Susquehanna River

The body of a Felton-area woman who had been reported missing to York Area Regional Police has been found in the Susquehanna River, according to police.

York Area Regional Police Sgt. Peter Montgomery said no foul play is suspected in the death, but he said the manner of death beyond that was still undetermined.

A friend of the woman, whose name he declined to release, reported the woman missing shortly before 10 p.m. Wednesday, Montgomery said.

Trooper Ryan L. Lawrence, a spokesman at the state police barracks in Lancaster County, said Lancaster troopers had found the body at about 3 p.m. Friday. The river is in Lancaster County, so that county's authorities have jurisdiction over it.

Lancaster County Coroner Stephen Diamantoni said his office hadn't officially identified the body yet, so he wasn't releasing the name, cause or manner of death yet. He said he hoped to be able to identify the woman soon.

State police and York Area Regional Police continue to investigate.
