Red Land senior dies after crash in Fairview Twp.
A Lewisberry teenager died Sunday night after the vehicle she was riding in struck a tree in Fairview Township, according to the York County Coroner's Office.
Emily Groft, 17, of the 200 block of Market Street, was pronounced dead at the scene of the single-vehicle crash, which occurred in the 400 block of Big Spring Road, according to the coroner's office.
Groft, a senior at Red Land High School, was wearing her seat belt when she died in the crash, according to a news release from Fairview Township Police.
Groft died of multiple blunt-force trauma, according to the coroner's office. The crash was ruled an accident, and speed appears to have played a role in the crash, according to police.
Brooke Livering, 19, of Salem Road in Fairview Township, was driving the 2002 Mitsubishi Eclipse and lost control while trying to negotiate a curve. Livering suffered minor injuries, and was taken to Hershey Medical Center.
Fairview Township Police continue to investigate.
