Police seeking tips about armed robbery of Fairview Twp. hotel

Two men stole a hotel safe last week during an armed takeover-style robbery of a Fairview Township hotel, according to police.

The men had their faces covered when they walked into the Best Western Inn & Suites, 702 Limekiln Road, about 4:45 a.m. Aug. 9, Fairview Township Police said.

One of them pointed a handgun at the clerk, jumped over the counter and forced her into a rear office, according to police.

The robbers then returned to the front office, where they grabbed the large hotel safe and carried it out the door, police said.

Police on Friday released surveillance photos of the robbers and are asking for the public's help in identifying them.

Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to call Fairview Township Police at (717) 901-5267.

No one was hurt, according to Fairview Township Police Chief Jason Loper.

There was an undisclosed amount of cash in the safe, which is about 3 feet tall, 2 feet wide and 2 feet deep, the chief said.

"I'm sure it weighs several hundred pounds," Loper said.

He asked people to pay particular attention to the unusual design on the T-shirt of one of the robbers, to see if they recognize it.
