Police release new photos of man who robbed Spring Garden store

Police have released better-quality surveillance photos of a man who robbed a Spring Garden Township convenience store at gunpoint last week. A cash reward is still being offered in the case.

A man walked into the Turkey Hill Minit Market at 1338 Mount Rose Ave. just before 11 p.m. Aug. 11, put a blue drawstring bag on the counter and demanded cash, police said.

He took a semi-automatic handgun out of the bag to show clerks he was armed, but he didn't point the gun at anyone, according to Spring Garden Township Police Chief George Swartz.

The robber left the store after getting cash and was last seen walking eastbound, police said.

Swartz said it's not known whether the man got into a vehicle.

No one was hurt during the robbery, the chief said.

Tattoos, mullet: The robber is described as a Hispanic man who appeared to be in his early 40s, with tattoos on his right forearm and on the right side of his neck, police said. The neck tattoo is possibly a name, according to police, and the arm tattoos form a "sleeve."

He was sporting a mullet, with long curly hair at the back of his head and short hair at the front and sides, police said. He was wearing a blue or green V-neck short-sleeve shirt, black pants, work boots and a black baseball cap with a white New York logo and a sticker on it, police said.

Swartz said a cash reward is available for the tipster who helps police identify the robber.

"All information will be considered confidential," he said.

Anyone who recognizes the man, or has information about the robbery, is asked to call township police at (717) 843-0851, or email Detective Dony Harbaugh at dharbaugh@sgtpd.org. Or leave a tip with York County Crime Stoppers by calling (800) 722-0991 or online at yorkcountycrimestoppers.org.

All calls to Crime Stoppers are confidential and callers don't have to give their names to collect cash rewards.
