York Area Regional Police charged a second teen in connection with a vicious attack in Red Lion that left a man with brain damage.

Danny Graffius, 19, no known address, is charged with simple assault for allegedly punching Guy Verdinelli of Red Lion as he was lying on the ground during the attack on Aug. 22, 2014, according to Graffius's charging documents.

He was arraigned Thursday and posted $25,000 bail the same day, according to a court official.

Graffius is next due in court for a preliminary hearing before District Judge John H. Fishel at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 1, an official with Fishel's office said.

The attack: Verdinelli, 39 at the time, was walking through a parking lot just off North Main Street with two women, one of whom was his fiancee, when they were approached by three men, including Graffius, police said.

Verdinelli told the trio to back off, after which he and the women tried to walk away. But the trio escalated the situation by pushing Verdinelli and trying to hit him, according to police.

One of the women started calling 911, at which point Devin Flaharty, 19, of Windsor Township, hit Verdinelli on the back of the head with the skateboard. After Verdinelli fell to the ground, Graffius allegedly punched Verdinelli four or five times in the head, according to police.

The trio then ran off, and Verdinelli was left unconscious and bloody on the ground. He suffered serious brain damage during the attack.

Police were able to identify Graffius as a suspect when Verdinelli's fiancee, Christina Thompson, pointed him out in pictures posted on Flaharty's Facebook page.

Flaharty was sentenced in April to a year minus a day to two years minus two days in York County Prison, plus five years of probation. He also was ordered to pay restitution for his victim's medical bills, according to court records.
