Police: Abbottstown motorcyclist killed after riding into oncoming lane
An Adams County man was killed Sunday afternoon in Paradise Township when his motorcycle went into the oncoming lane of West Canal Road and crashed into an SUV, according to police.
Brandon Mathias, 26, of the 200 block of Home Road in Abbottstown, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, according to the York County Coroner's Office. No autopsy is planned.
Northern York County Regional Police said the crash happened on West Canal Road near Ruth Farm Lane at 3:55 p.m.
Mathias was riding a Yamaha motorcycle eastbound when he failed to negotiate a curve in the road, police said.
The motorcycle crossed the center line and struck a westbound Toyota SUV driven by a 66-year-old Adams County woman, according to police.
She was treated for minor injuries, police said.

A 26-year-old man was killed in a motorcycle crash Sunday afternoon in Paradise Township, according to the York County Coroner's Office.
Brandon Mathias, 26, of the 200 block of Home Road in Abbottstown, was riding a motorcycle when he collided with a station wagon while heading east on West Canal Road near Beaver Creek about 4 p.m., the coroner's office said in a tweet.
Deputy Coroner Terry Meyers pronounced Mathias dead from multiple traumatic injuries at the scene at 5:50 p.m., according to @YCoCoroner. There will be no autopsy.
The road was closed down for several hours, and an emergency medical helicopter was called to the crash, according to York County 911.
