Holistic expo calls the open-minded masses to York

Attention open-minded people of York County: This weekend at the York Expo Center is for you.

For the 15th year, the owners of New Visions Books & Gifts are hosting the York Celebration of Life Holistic Expo and Conference.

The Springettsbury Township shops sells every type of New Age product, from crystals to tarot cards to books on psychic development and conscious living.

"You would take this and multiply it by 100," co-owner Bill Trivett said. "And that's what the expo is."

The holistic lifestyle is gaining steam, he says.

"It's growing and growing and growing," Trivett said. "People are looking for alternative ways to enhance the quality of their lives."

Trivett said he expects many who attend to fit the profile of a curiosity seeker. New Age amateurs are welcome to check it out, he said.

"We are not interested in shoving this down anyone's throat," he said. "This is a lifestyle that you come to on your own. No one can tell you that this is the answer."

Trivett said he expects about 2,000 people to attend the two-day event, slated for 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at the expo center's Memorial Hall East, 334 Carlisle Ave.

More than 80 vendors will be on hand, selling an assortment of products and services, including art, crystals, jewelry, clothing, nutritional supplements and lots of books.

Massage therapists and psychics also will offer their services.

"We have no charlatans at our expo," Trivett said.

Don't be surprised, Trivett said, if some of the merchandise beckons you closer. Feel drawn to a crystal? You didn't pick it, according to Trivett.

"The crystal picked you," he said.

Admission is $7 for one day or $10 for both days. For details, call (717) 843-8067.
