Fearful of certain health problems?

There's a test for that.

In September, Hanover Hospital and the Rotary Club of Hanover will sponsor a day of "multiphasic" blood screenings Sept. 11 and Sept. 12 from 6-9 a.m., at the York Street Medical Center, 400 York St.

The blood screening can assist a patient's physician in the detection of health problems such as heart disease, kidney or liver disease, some forms of cancer, diabetes, muscle or bone disease and anemia.

In Hanover: The cost of the test in Hanover is $32, and 12 hours fasting is required.

The following optional screens are available for an additional charge:

Thyroid screen (TSH) - $12

Glyco Hemoglobin (shows blood sugar levels for the past 2-3 months) - $15

Prostate testing will no longer be offered, based on the recommendation of the US Preventative Services Task Force. Residents are encouraged to talk about testing with a healthcare provider.

Flu shots will also be available.

Testing is done by appointment only. The registration deadline is Aug. 28 or until registration is full. To register online, visit HanoverHospital.org, click on Community Health and scroll down to Community Multiphasic Blood Screening. Or call (717) 316-7146.
