A stretch of New Bridgeville Road Wednesday night was reopened to motorists after being blocked off for more than a month.

The section of road between Chapel Church Road and Shoff Road in Chanceford Township in mid-June was closed so crews could remove trees and relocate utility poles and wires, according to a PennDOT news release.

Workers reinforced areas of the embankment so to better support the road and also reconstructed the roadway shoulders, according to the release.

The road improvement project, which was contracted to York-based Kinsley Construction, Inc., will ultimately cost just under $1 million. The project will also include roadway repair and asphalt paving, which will reduce the two-lane road to a single lane. That work is expected to continue through most of September.
