A shooting near the southeast corner of Penn Park in York City late Monday night sent one man to the hospital, according to police.

Officers on the scene said one adult male victim showed up at York Hospital after police responded to reports of shots fired near the corner of Lindberg Avenue and Lafayette Street.

"As best we can determine," that's where the man was shot, police said.

They said they don't know the condition of the victim, who drove himself or otherwise was driven to the hospital in a private vehicle.

He was hit in the back, according to police.

A car had been hit by several bullets, and residents said a couple of row homes had been struck, too.

Dan Wilhelm, who lives nearby, said he was in the kitchen when the shots rang out, and he "hit the deck." He said he heard a bunch of shots.

"I heard them go right up the street," he said.

York City Police continue to investigate.
