Sen. Wagner to host event for presidential candidate Walker

Republican presidential hopeful Scott Walker will make an appearance at a private meet-and-greet event hosted by state Sen. Scott Wagner on Tuesday night in the York area.

The event will run from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the York County Club on Country Club Road in Spring Garden Township, said Amanda Davidson, Wagner's executive assistant.

The event isn't a fundraiser, Davidson said; the Spring Garden Township Republican state senator invited 150 people to attend the meet-and-greet, including some supporters and local GOP officials.

Walker, currently the governor of Wisconson, is the candidate whose politics run closest to Wagner's out of the crowded 16-candidate Republican presidential field, Davidson said.

"On fiscal policies, absolutely," she said, saying the York County Scott supports the one from Wisconsin.

In his third term as governor, Walker is near the front of the 2016 GOP pack; he's maybe most well known for his union-busting efforts in his home state.

Davidson said Walker was looking to hold a few events in central Pennsylvania, and reached out to Wagner to see if he wanted to host one, which he did.
