Police say a Glen Rock man punched his wife in the head, causing her head to crack against the pavement, and then punched a man who asked what had happened.

Jeffrey Raymond Weatherhill, 26, of 107 Church St., has been charged with simple assault, harrasment, disorderly conduct and public drunkenness, according to the criminal complaint against him.

Police say people who live in the area of South Front and Orange streets in Wrightsville told them that after a party they heard a woman screaming, and then saw a man they later identified as Weatherhill standing over his wife, who was lying in the street.

One resident said he asked what had happened, and Weatherhill responded by punching him in the face and starting a fight with him, before running away, the documents state.

The victim, who was bleeding from her head, answered to her name but couldn't remember what day it was or how she'd ended up on the sidewalk with a head injury, according to documents.

Weatherhill remains in York County Prison on $2,500 bail, according to the York County Sheriff's Office.
