A Hanover-area woman died Friday morning after the car she was driving on Interstate 83 in Maryland flipped over, according to Maryland State Police.

Lynn Rumney, 45, was pronounced dead at the scene of the single-vehicle crash, which occurred shortly before 9:30 a.m., police said.

Rumney lost control of her car near the Cockeysville exit, which is Exit 18, according to police. They said the car flipped over a guardrail and Rumney, who wasn't wearing a seat belt, was thrown from the vehicle.

She was the only person in the car, and no one else was hurt.

Maryland State Police continue to investigate.
