Hearing for accused Wrightsville killer continued

The preliminary hearing for a Wrightsville man accused of killing the mother of his child was continued following hours of testimony at a district judge's office on Thursday.

Marcus James Bordelon, 22, of 121 Chestnut St., allegedly killed 21-year-old Samantha "Sami" Young, his ex-girlfriend, during a domestic dispute at his home on April 19.

The preliminary hearing at Manchester-area District Judge Robert Eckenrode's office was continued so a forensic pathologist can testify when it resumes in August, said Kyle King, spokesman for the York County District Attorney's office.

Thursday's hearing got underway about 8:30 a.m. and continued until about 3:30 p.m.

Just before the hearing, would-be spectators and members of the media queued up to get into Eckenrode's office. But about a dozen people, including the media, were turned away by constables because the courtroom in the office was at maximum capacity.

Preliminary hearings have traditionally been short affairs that last all but a couple of hours.

"Most of our prelims are shorter in duration, however, it is not uncommon for a case of this nature to take an entire day, or sometimes longer as there are many factors at play," King said. "It simply depends on the nature of each case."

Allegations: Bordelon allegedly killed Young in his home while their 1-year-old daughter was there.

He was covered in blood when Wrightsville police went to his home and he later admitted to officers that he and Young had been in a domestic dispute inside his home and admitted he "did use a knife to keep her from leaving the residence."

Officers found a locked shed in his back yard, forced open the door and discovered Young's body, which had numerous stab wounds, inside.

Officers also noticed two bottles of bleach near a large blood stain on the floor, which Bordelon admitted might contain "some" of Young's blood, police allege.

Bordelon is charged with criminal homicide and remains in York County Prison in lieu of bail.

Accomplice: His alleged accomplice, Natasha Marie Stover, 20, faces felony charges of criminal homicide and criminal conspiracy to commit homicide in connection with the killing. She is also charged with misdemeanor counts of abusing a corpse and tampering with evidence.

Stover, who was Bordelon's girlfriend at the time Young was killed, helped Bordelon move Young's car from the Chestnut Street home to a commuter parking area nearby, then took him to buy bleach and lime, police alleged.

She waived her preliminary hearing on Wednesday, sending charges laid against her to the York County Court of Common Pleas. Stover also remains in county prison, having been denied bail.

Bordelon's preliminary hearing will resume at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 12, according to Eckenrode's office.
