Rep. Perry member of far-right caucus: 'It's nobody's business but our own'
York County's representative to the U.S. House refused to say earlier this week if he is a member of a conservative caucus.
During the recorded exchange, Rep. Scott Perry, R-Dillsburg, refused to answer a Roll Call reporter's question about his membership to the House Freedom Caucus because the reporter isn't one of his constituents.
"Let me put it to you this way: I won't. I won't," Perry told the reporter when asked if he's a caucus member. "You call my constituents and I'll be happy to tell them where I stand."
Perry didn't return a call for comment Wednesday, and his spokesman, Bob Reilly, replied to a phone message with an email saying Perry is a member.
"I can confirm that Congressman Perry is a member of the House Freedom Caucus," Reilly wrote in the email, which also included a web link to the caucus' mission statement.
When asked if Perry would be available for comment, Reilly said in a subsequent email that Perry has a very tight schedule because the House is in session this week.

The caucus: Nine conservative members of the House formed the tea-party influenced caucus earlier this year, and it has apparently grown in size.
It aims to give a "voice to countless Americans who feel that Washington does not represent them" while also "supporting, open, accountable and limited government, the Constitution and rule of law and policies that promote liberty, safety and prosperity of all Americans," according to the two-sentence mission statement.
But the caucus has come under fire from even Republicans, and its exact size is unknown.
The caucus doesn't keep a roster of members and won't say how many legislators are part of it.
Perry told the Roll Call reporter there's no "obsessive secrecy" with the group.
"It's nobody's business but our own," Perry said .
