ST. PAUL, Minn. — Gander Outdoors, formerly known as Gander Mountain, will be reopening in York County this spring.

The Gander Mountain store in West Manchester Township will close at the end of August, according to store employees. Jason Addy photo.

Marcus Lemonis bought Gander Mountain assets in bankruptcy court in May 2017 and is beginning to reopen many of the chain’s stores, which cater to customers involved in outdoor activities such as hunting, fishing, marine and water sports, camping and active and shooting sports. Gander Outdoors is owned by Camping World Holdings and will provide outdoor enthusiasts with regionally and seasonally relevant products and services that are competitively priced, according to the company.

Plans are in place for Gander Outdoors to open its doors in mid-April to late May. The location at 725 Town Center Drive — the site of the former Gander Mountain — will employ up to 55 people at the 31,000-square-foot space.

“It was important to me to bring the Gander Outdoors back to the wonderful community of York because the employees were top notch and the store was a great performer serving the outdoor enthusiast community,” said Lemonis, chairman of Camping World Holdings and star of CNBC’s The Profit.

“In addition to the York location, we are currently pursuing other locations for reopening and expansion and expect to announce additional locations and markets in the coming weeks,” he said.

Following the successful bid in the bankruptcy process, Lemonis said he intends to operate stores with a clear path to profitability, with a goal of opening 70 or more locations subject to, among other things, the ability to negotiate lease terms with landlords.
