Poor weather conditions will soon no longer be an issue for local golfers hoping to refine their skills.

Matt Keller, who has worked with professional golfers at facilities including Lancaster Country Club, is opening York Indoor Golf and Training Center off Route 30 in York City.

The 3,600-square-foot facility, behind Royer's Flowers at 807 Loucks Road, will feature four golf simulators, a practice putting/chipping green and two hitting bays.

The simulators will allow guests to practice or play more than 25 golf courses, including Oakmont Country Club and Merion Golf Club.

Keller said the aim is to open up shop in mid-May with an emphasis on year-round coaching and instruction without having to deal with foul weather.

The facility's technology is similar to what is used by professional golfers or high-level collegiate players, Keller said.
